How To Apply Online For Philippine Passport - Powered by Teleserv

I've never been out of the country yet,  but I guess getting a passport is very important for anyone not just by going for a vacation, but also it serves as a valid identification card for most establishments.  So the question is how to apply for Philippine passport?   Here's how:

Get an appointment online!

You don't need to go too far to have a schedule for getting a passport.  DFA has already an online passport appointment system. This is very convenient as you have the power to choose the date and time you preferred.  Take note that most of the time the appointment schedule is almost 2 months ahead of time.  You still have lots of time to prepare the required documents needed.  It was just recently when I discovered that Teleserv is the Department of Foreign Affair's partner with the appointment system.

1.  Go to this link: http://epassport.com.ph/

2.  Fill up the words written to avoid spammers then click "Start Individual Appointment Process"

3.  Fill up the application form

You can state here the option if you're going to have your passport for delivery.  I strongly suggest this especially for busy people.  Why?  Going back again to DFA's office will consume time and effort unless DFA is just in your neighborhood.  Expenses on transportation going to and from DFA plus the food or drinks you might buy when you get hungry upon going back should not be greater that Php120 - the delivery charge.

Another option is the processing type.  Regular takes 20 business working days, while you can get the passport 'Rush' in 10 days.  Take note that when choosing delivery, allow another day after the scheduled day of processing type.  So if it's regular, the passport will be delivered to you on the 21st business working days.

4.  Review the requirements

Gaining from my experience, make sure to have a complete requirement. I had to make another appointment schedule because of some missing requirements due to late registration.  My birth certificate was finally registered during my college years (yeah, it's as if I don't exist at all hehe).  Aside from my birth certificate they need other proof, I was asked for my transcript of record but too bad my transcript of records don't have my birthdate and birthpace detail, so they asked me to bring my high school's form 137.  They gave me a schedule until next week but it took me a month to finally prepare it, and so I had to appoint another schedule.

5.  Choose a Schedule

If you can schedule yourself early morning, then do it! The good thing here is that they have Saturday schedule, which I think is very convenient for busy employees who worked on the usual Mondays to Fridays.

6. Go to your email to check your schedule and make sure to print it

Some Tips:

  • Make sure you know where categorized yourself and bring other supporting documents to avoid going back. Check the requirements here: http://epassport.com.ph/requirements.  Make sure to get a photocopy of your requirements.
  • As in the schedule, go to DFA one hour ahead of your schedule.
  • Approval of passport requirements is at the first floor, while payment and picture taking is at the 2nd flloor.  No need to bring passport size picture.
  • Take the earliest schedules, you'll likely to finish in  more or less 1 hour (early morning schedule)
  • 5PM onwards will will be considered rush processing
  • Beware of taxi drivers who charged too much.

Where is Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)?

The new DFA is located in Macapagal Avenue.  I think this is way better that the old office with lots of fixers around.

And so I'm ready to go out of the country! Wish me luck!!! :)
