Skyscanner: How Helpful For Travellers? [ A Travel Search Engine Review ]

Spending a vacation is made easy with the internet.  Aside from helpful travel blogs and forums available around, we must also take credit of travel search engine like Skyscanner.  What is it really and what does it make?!

Skyscanner is a travel search engine that helps you check out cheap available flights in one site.  It's like comparing  the prices from one airline to another and once you've find what you like, you will be redirect to that site.

What I like about skyscanner is its simplicity. I don't go for heavy UI (user interface) but more of what it offers me.  I did try to search a flight and type a place  (I was looking for Bacolod trip for the MassKara festival in October) and like google or facebook, it does have a dropdown list of the related keyword you type in.

Once you click on the search button, the most important things were already there, like departure date/time and arrival date/time, and the fare for different airlines. Take note that these are base fare with mandatory taxes and fees.  Other ancilliary services such as prepaid baggage and meals is not included  but once you get redirected to a particular airline you can check with these add-ons.  Do not worry because this is a travel search engine and will not charge you anything for searching.

Aside from flights you can also search hotels and car rental which is part of your options during vacation.  You know, when I was out of the country (I was once in HK-Macau & Singapore, oh I haven't blogged about it yet hehe) looking for hotels/hostel and choosing where to stay is one of the biggest part of my search as aside from the rates, reading reviews from different people, from all walks of life, was really a great help. I like how easy it is to filter the search depending on the recommended reviews, or by its price.  Nonetheless, this is what tourists and travellers is looking for right? Room for improvement would be to include a filter for the number of nights of stay to make the search more flexible. :)

I'm glad to know that the admin of their facebook page is kind of active in replying on people's question.  So if you find some bugs or you have questions, feel free to report it to them so they can improve their site.  Also, you can check out their free mobile/ipod app available for download for people on the go and don't have the chance to connect at their computers.

Wi-Fi provides multiple service options that have helped to create access to the internet a lot more easily available, and at greater speeds, for people inside non-urban locations. DSL and cable supplied services aren't always obtainable in the actual country side, however wireless solutions is capable of these folks and help keep them connected read this article.
