A tour around the Canary Islands


The Canary Islands are located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Morocco. These seven volcanic islands are known for their beaches and natural parks.

El Hierro.

This small volcanic island is known for its sports. Visitors will be able to practice paragliding in the Valle de El Golfo. Near the beaches of Frontera and La Restinga there are several diving centers and the island's crystal waters offer many diving spots.

Fuerteventura.

This island is known for its pristine beaches. The island has some of the archipelago's longest and whitest beaches. The island offers many activities to visitors, including water sports, and they will be able to dive and surf.

A ferry connects Fuerteventura to the island of Lanzarote and a short boat trip away visitors will find the small island of Los Lobos.

This elongated island has many dunes and there are almost 100 kilometers of sandy beaches and many stone beaches. Typical sports that can be practiced on the island include kitesurf, surf and windsurf.

Gran Canaria is one of the archipelago's main islands, located a short flight away from the Peninsula. Its main city is Las Palmas. In this city visitors will be able to walk around the Old Town, where the Casas Consistoriales City Hall is located. Another nearby landmark is the Palacio Episcopal. In the city center visitors will find the Plaza de Santa Ana, a square where visitors will be able to enjoy a drink and explore the city's architecture. The Cathedral of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is located on this square, which is a popular meeting spot.

The island has many traditional beach resorts and towns. There are several large dunes near the coast. The Llano de las Brujas is an area with several ancient ruins where visitors will be able to see the place where grain was stored and several burial mounds. The nearby village of Telde offers trips around the area.

This island has many natural landmarks. The Roque Nublo is a large monolith more than 80 meters tall that is located 1800 above sea level. Visitors will be able to climb up the mountain and enjoy the views towards the nearby town of Tejeda and the sea.

Lanzarote.

The volcanic island of Lanzarote is located on the northern side of the archipelago. This island is known for its water sports. Visitors will be able to enjoy windsurf and surf.

The National Park of Timanfaya is one of the island's most visited places. This national park offers tours on camels and at the top of the park there is a restaurant that uses the active volcano as a grill.

La Gomera.

La Gomera is a small island known for its nature. The Garajonay National Park is a park where visitors will be able to see many species of animals and plants. Tours are organized around the park and there are several walking trails.

La Palma.

The island of La Palma is a green island where visitors will be able to enjoy many sports. There are several hiking trails, diving spots and hiking routes that are known for their views towards the sea. This island has clear skies and several astronomic observatories.

Tenerife.

Tenerife is one of the main islands and is known for the Teide peak. The Teide is a volcano located in the Teide National Park. The volcano has a height of more than 3700 meters. A special permit is needed for those who want to climb to the peak. For those who do not enjoy hiking, there is a cable car that connects a nearby plaza to the top of the mountain.

This island has several large cities, including the Puerto de la Cruz, where visitors will be able to enjoy local food in one of its many bars and restaurants and tour the museums. The southern region of the island has many beaches and resorts and the northern region has larger towns. There are many animal parks where visitors will be able to see mammals, birds and fish. This island has several theme parks with roller coasters and water attractions.
