Philippine International 2nd Pyromusical Competition in SM Mall of Asia March 12, 2011 - Australia and Philippines

My friends from QCPC asked if anybody wanted to go to the 2nd Pyromusical Competition at SM Mall of Asia last March 12, 2011.  There are lots of participating countries but I think most of them wanted to support Philippines (Hep hep hooray! Support our own!)  which is scheduled on that day back to back with Australia.  I couldn't resist the chance of watching fireworks so I jumped in.  First plan was to buy tickets for the VIP area, but sir Jonathan suggested to try a different spot.

For those who haven't heard about it, Philippines is the host of the most-awaited fireworks display at SM Mall of Asia at Pasay City. There are 10 countries to show off  (South Korea, Spain, Portugal, U.K., China, France, Japan, Canada, Australia, Philippines) so this is really fun and exciting.  Just too bad,  I wasn't able to watch every country's entry.

The Location

Unusual it is, we were located a bit far from the exact location of the pyro display.  We were at the reclamation area beside Senate of the Philippines building.  It is along Diosdado Macapagal Avenue, right side of Mall of Asia facing Manila Bay.  It maybe far from the exact venue, but the good side here is we will be coming from another point of view.  We arrived here at 5pm, and because it's not your usual place to sit in, relax and dine while waiting for the fireworks, be prepared that there's no lights here once it gets dark.

kuya rael smile hehe

The pyro's supposed scheduled at 7pm for Australia and 8pm for the Philippines, but there were some delays that's why Australia started way past the scheduled time.  We weren't able to hear the music for the fireworks but was able to hear that China won in this year's competition.  How I wish I saw it. :)

Each country lasted for 15-20minutes which is totally awesome.  The only trouble I'm thinking while we're waiting is the air pollution it will create...environmentalist eh?!

Here's my shot during the pyro for Australia and Philippines.  For me Philippines' fireworks display is way better than Australia, but being the emcee and residence of the competition, Philippines is not a participant in the proper pyro contest.

sayang talaga, wasn't able to witness this one when we visited Manila in two different instances (trip to Zambales and Sagada). Would've wanted to practice shooting fireworks.
Anyway, very nice ng shots. linis! :D
