Part 2: Hong Kong - Macau Trip Day 1 - Our Hong Kong Accommodation: Golden Crown Guest House

From Hong Kong International Airport, we took a public bus going to our accommodation which is the Golden Crown Guest House.

Where To Stay in Hong Kong?

As long as you're staying anywhere near MTR station and bus stop, you're good to go! :)

Bus Transportation and Golden Crown Guest House

There are different public buses in Hong Kong.  What's important is to just check the routes and schedules of these buses on their website.
Golden Crown Guest House is not really a grandeur hotel but this accomodation was highly suggested over girltalk forum because of its location, near bus stop and MTR station.  Even though forum members already informed us that we need to ride A21 bus (also mentioned in Golden Crown's website) and drop off at bus stop #13, we still need to check how to get there on our own.

Check the Citybus and NWFB website for A21's route.  I was really amaze how convenient it is to check the bus routes on their site.  Really, Hong Kong is a very tourist friendly place. :)

A21 Airport Hung Hom KCR Station Route:
1.     Airport (Ground Transportation Centre)
2.     Lantau Link Toll Plaza
3.     AquaMarine, Sham Mong Road
4.     Fat Tseung Street West, Sham Mong Road
5.     Metropark Hotel Mongkok, Lai Chi Kok Road
6.     Argyle Centre, Nathan Road
7.     Bank Centre, Nathan Road
8.     Sino Centre, Nathan Road
9.     Man Ming Lane, Nathan Road
10.   Nathan Hotel, Nathan Road
11.   Prudential Centre, Nathan Road
12.   Kimberley Road, Nathan Road
13.   Cameron Road, Nathan Road <MTR Station (Tsim Sha Tsui) , Nathan Road>
14.   Middle Road, Nathan Road
15.   New World Centre, Salisbury Road
16.   Mody Road, Chatham Road South
17.   Granville Road, Chatham Road South
18.   Hong Kong Science Museum, Chatham Road South
19.   Hung Hom Station

Golden Crown GuestHouse is located at 66-70 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong.  Upon checking  the route, Cameron Road along Nathan Road is located at 82-84 Nathan Road, just few walks near Golden Crown Guest House.  So there!

Google Maps - How Helpful?

I've been telling long before that it is important to have a map especially when doing a DIY trip.  Since we're planning ahead  (as we wanted to maximize our time spent in HK) what could be most helpful is Google Maps! It could help you find a perfect location for you. :)

By just searching our accomodation, I saw a bus stop near it.  From the screenshot below, A21 passes by this bus stop.  Very useful right?

If you zoom in more, you'll be able to see the actual Hong Kong.  So these photos help me realize we need to unload the bus once we see this.

It's our first time to ride a double deck bus that's why we went to the second floor for the experience.   Funny though, it's too late when we realize we need to get off the bus so we waited until the next bus stop. :))
TIP:  I suggest to just sit on the lower part of the bus.  Why?  The bus stops very quickly (I think more or less 1 minute haha).  You need to know when to drop off and prepare to get off the bus quickly.

Entrance to Golden Crown Guest House. Small opening in between Standard Chartered Bank and CITI Bank.

Golden Crown Guest House maybe small, but we didn't mind for as long as it is clean.  They provide towels too!  I read before that in Hong Kong they have different socket outlet as compared in the Philippines (three pin plug), I was worried that we still need to look for an adaptor for charging our electronic gadgets.  I was glad to know that our accomodation provided an adaptor we can use.  They also have hot and cold water in the reception area which is plus point for our breakfast: cup noodles.  Hehe!

Where to Change Money In Hong Kong?

Thankfully, one staff of Golden Crown Guest House is a Filipina.  We asked where to change our money then she told us to try Chungking Mansion's ground floor.

Chungking is just few blocks from Golden Crown

Here's the entrance.  I forgot to take a picture so I'll just post the google maps' picture here

There are numerous money changers in Chungking, you just look where to find a trustworthy money changer.  I saw a policeman in the tourist information in the area so I guess it is safe. :)

Bossing in Hong Kong!

And now we're off to go to our first stop! Hong Kong Disneyland!

Thank you for reading part 2 of my hk-macau trip.  Please watch out for my upcoming post and other details that hopefully will help you further on your trip. :)  Next post will be about Disneyland.

This is really helpful. We booked din with them for our upcoming November trip kasi medyo maayos naman yong reviews sa kanila.
During your stay, ok ba yong place and yong service? Would you happen to know if they really provide Ocean Park and Disney ticket discounts for their guests? Thanks!

May friends and I also stayed at Golden Crown last year. It's good value for my money and I loved how close it is to the MTR station. The Filipina helper was also really nice to us.

Also, I just have to say it, Google Maps in Hong Kong rocks! It was all we needed to survive our DIY trip. Well, the MTR map too.
